Privacy Policy
How we handle personal information, in plain English — as required by the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
1. Who we are
Rogers & Co. ("we", "us") is a founder-owned South African consultancy providing AI consulting and information-security (vCISO) services. For the purposes of POPIA, we are the responsible party for personal information processed through this website.
Our Information Officer is the Founder of Rogers & Co., reachable at info@rogersbs.co.za. The Information Officer is registered with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
2. What personal information we collect
This website has no contact forms, no user accounts, and no comment sections. We collect personal information only when you choose to contact us:
- WhatsApp: your phone number, profile name and the content of your messages, processed through WhatsApp (Meta Platforms). WhatsApp's own privacy policy also applies.
- Email: your email address, name and the content of your message.
- Server logs: our hosting provider automatically logs IP addresses, browser type and pages visited for security and troubleshooting purposes. These logs are not used to identify or profile visitors.
3. Why we collect it
- To respond to your enquiry and provide the services you request.
- To maintain a record of our correspondence with clients.
- To protect this website against abuse (server logs).
We do not sell personal information. We do not send marketing communications without your explicit, unbundled, opt-in consent — and we will never pre-tick a consent box.
4. Who we share it with
- Service providers who host our website and email, under appropriate confidentiality obligations.
- WhatsApp (Meta Platforms), if you contact us via WhatsApp.
- Authorities, only where the law requires it.
We do not share personal information with anyone else, and we do not transfer it across borders except to the extent that our email, hosting or WhatsApp providers store data outside South Africa under their own safeguards.
5. Cookies
This website sets no cookies — no tracking cookies, no analytics cookies, no advertising pixels, and no third-party trackers. There is therefore nothing to consent to and no consent banner. If we ever introduce analytics or any technology that stores information on your device, we will first add a clear, opt-in consent mechanism with nothing pre-ticked.
One note on fonts: this site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches those font files, Google receives your IP address as part of the ordinary web request. No cookies are involved, and we receive no information about you from Google.
6. How long we keep information
Correspondence is retained for as long as needed to serve you and to meet our legal and contractual obligations, after which it is deleted. Server logs are retained by our hosting provider on a rolling basis and deleted automatically.
7. How we protect it
This website is served exclusively over HTTPS, is built without a database or content-management system (minimising what can be attacked), and carries hardened security headers. Access to our correspondence is limited to the people who need it, on devices protected by multi-factor authentication.
8. Your rights under POPIA
You may, at any time:
- request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- request correction or deletion of that information;
- object to processing, or withdraw any consent you previously gave;
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za, email complaints.IR@inforegulator.org.za.
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Information Officer at info@rogersbs.co.za. See also our PAIA Manual for the formal access-to-information procedure.
9. Data breaches
If a security compromise affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify the Information Regulator and affected individuals as required by section 22 of POPIA, as soon as reasonably possible after becoming aware of it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
